the latest edition of california political week or cal-peak, this speaks to what we were talking about. how the republican party has lost its edge particularly among latinos, women young voters. in california, my state california republican party used to have 63.2% of voter registration. registered voters in california. republicans. today, for the first time, voter -- republican voter registration in california, this is according to cal-peak has fallen below 30%. democrats hold every statewide office and both the united states senators and of course the big majority of the united states congressional delegation. republican party bob mulholland use to the work for me as political director of the party. is quoted as saying wolves have a better chance of getting off the endangered species list than republicans. are not an outlet. we are a program at the university of california, a graduate program that does reporting, but we are working with different organizations. we do not really have an initiative, per said, but there are organizations that are doing incredible work with citizens. "the guardian" in the u.k. is the best example of a large organization that works with citizens on a huge scale. one of the things they did in the last couple years was pulled from public records about the way their politicians are spending money. millions of documents. they created a form and citizens volunteered to go through those millions of documents and competed. it was amazingly successful. i do not know how many thousands of people participated, but it was a lot. "the guardian" is very innovative. american journalists are trying to find ways to do this -- to engage citizens. we do not get a lot of cold calls or tips, but we never ignore. i do not know if there are journalists out there -- we never ignore a tip. i do not care how crazy it seems, how far-fetched -- we always follow up. you'll be surprised at how many a

of los angeles, not your home state of california, but still, you're there. i want to talk to you about the lines. these lines of early voters we're seeing today, looks like winding around street corners, you have people in southern florida, casting ballots, waiting for hours to do so, some from what i've heard, some are just walking away, giving up. question to you is how confident are you by the time the polls close tomorrow that everyone who wants to vote can? >> well, as you know, the governor, governor scott and the legislature reduced early voting by six days. they even fought in court the opportunity to extend voting hours at a polling place where there had been a bomb threat. our hope is that people will go out and vote. i can tell you there are 125 offices. we have been working two years here in florida. >> what is your confidence level? are you confident that everyone who wants to vote will be voting? >> i'm confident that we'll make every effort to get them out to vote. you talked about the enthusiasm gap. i haven't seen it. i didn't see it in tampa. i haven't seen it in miam
